The objective of the New Apprenticeships Incentives Program is to develop a more skilled Australian workforce that delivers long-term benefits for Australians. This is achieved by encouraging employers to open up genuine opportunities for skills-based training of their employees, through provision by the Commonwealth of financial incentives to employers for new and existing workers.

Are my employees eligible?

Employees are eligible for Commonwealth funding under the following conditions:

• Must be full time or part time employees (not casual).
• Cannot have prior qualification on Cerificate III or above (if qualification was 7 years or more ago from TAFE or apprenticeship/traineeship, the employee is eligible).
• Does not have a tertiary qualification.
• Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

What are the financial incentives?

Commencement incentives for Certificate III or IV is $1650.

Completion incentive for Certificate III or IV is $2750.

Total funding available is $4400.
